Edited by Karen Emmerich
Description
Austerity Measures: The New Greek Poetry is a groundbreaking anthology of contemporary Greek poetry that explores the impact of austerity on the lives of ordinary Greeks. Edited by Karen Emmerich, the anthology features work by some of the most important poets writing in Greece today, including Kiki Dimoula, Yannis Ritsos, and Adonis.
The poems in Austerity Measures are a powerful indictment of the austerity policies that have been imposed on Greece by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. These policies have led to widespread poverty, unemployment, and homelessness. The poems in this anthology give voice to the suffering of the Greek people and demand a more just and equitable society.
Austerity Measures is an essential read for anyone who wants to understand the human cost of austerity. The poems in this anthology are a powerful reminder that austerity is not just a set of economic policies, but a political choice that has real and devastating consequences for the lives of ordinary people.
